How Middle Schools, High Schools, and Colleges and Universities are Handling Graduation During COVID-19 in 2021

As the world continues to handle life with the pandemic and spread of COVID-19 some colleges, universities, middle schools and high schools are planning in-person commencement ceremonies. With the increase in testing available and the release of vaccinations, many are optimistic that in-person ceremonies will be possible while adhering to all COVID-19 protocols, including facemasks and proper social distancing. Some still have plans to postpone and/or are conducting them online since in-person graduation ceremonies could pose a risk; however, for those who hope to stay close to tradition coordination and planning are key.

While a variety of graduation ceremonies were held in 2020 many felt the celebrations were not the same as celebrating the milestone in person. So, as many colleges and universities make plans for 2021, what could a graduation ceremony look like, including safety protocols?
